Literature Text

Suspenders
Blue, like my grandfather wore
Tight and parallel as two twin rivers
Running down his chest to tin and nickel deltas
He’d slip a thumb under each one
When he’d “done good” –
Slide them down with a hum of satisfaction
And a smack of pursed lips, snapped elastic.
Mmm-hm.  Done good.
